Shipping
Shipping rates vary with order weight and shipping destination ($5-12 within the US, $20 flat international). Art prints are rolled in a layer of butcher paper, then mailed in sturdy cardboard tubes. Stationery sets are packaged in cellophane sleeves and mailed in cardboard envelopes. Notebooks are mailed in cardboard envelopes. We make every effort to ship orders within 1 week of purchase. Domestic orders are shipped via USPS Priority Mail (1-3 days transit). International orders are shipped via USPS First-Class Mail International (1-3 weeks transit).
Screen printing
Orange & Park prints and stationery sets are screen printed on Michigan-based French Paper Company stock (more about French below). The printing is done by a small company also located in Michigan called VG Kids, using eco-friendly water-based inks. Screen printing is a stencil method of printmaking in which a design is imposed on a screen of silk or other fine mesh, with blank areas coated with an impermeable substance, and ink is forced through the mesh onto the printing surface. All prints pass our quality inspection; minor imperfections resulting from the screen printing process are considered part of their appeal. The ink on the prints is thick enough to exhibit a slight bit of depth.
French Paper Company
From frenchpaper.com: "Family-owned for five generations, the French Paper Company is one of the smallest paper mills in America. Way back in 1955, we created Speckletone (the first ever recycled sheet with visible flecks and shives). Recycled papers, like Speckletone, require no trees to be cut down, and we use virgin pulp only from approved sources like FSC. We generate 100% of our own electricity needs. We've done so since 1922 when our clean hydropower generator was built on-site."
